IPBio - Class of 2017/Turma de 2017

IPBio- Biodiversity Research Institute is back with its second installment of “Young Biodiversity Artists”. Last year, thanks to you, dear donors, we managed to hold the course offered to 12 students from Iporanga with classes on photography and film editing techniques. Their muse was biodiversity and local culture. They took stunning thematic images and produced mini-documentaries in groups. The results were amazing and they presented their work at an event held at Public School in Iporanga. Many of these children have taken on photography a personal hobby and even as a career, which truly demonstrates the long-term impact of the course.

IPBio wishes to continue the course so that the next generation can also share in this opportunity. We already have necessary equipment to run the course since they were acquired with the donations for the project in 2016. This year we will need resources to cover expenses such as hiring teachers, transportation and food.

This year, we will continue with the topics related to biodiversity and local culture but with a different twist. In addition to visiting caves and waterfall and the historical center, students will learn how to capture nocturnal images. We will work on the theme of bioluminescence, since Iporanga is located in the region with the highest concentration of bioluminescent mushrooms in the world. The students will also photograph a cultural event called “Noite do Tropeiros” that portrays the historic transport of cargo to our region.

At the end there will be another exhibition to display the Class of 2017 art.

We hope we can count on your support. Thank you!

Obrigada!
