Over the past three months, the YALP team has focused its efforts on strengthening the program’s sustainability and visibility, while also preparing for the next cohort of participants. This period has been marked by strategic communication efforts, platform updates, and operational planning for the launch of YALP Generation 6.

One of the main focuses of this quarter was the development and promotion of a crowdfunding campaign through our social media platforms. The campaign aimed to expand the program’s reach, raise awareness about the importance of Afro-Latinx youth leadership, and generate financial support to continue strengthening our training and mentorship activities.

As part of this campaign, we created digital content centered on sharing YALP’s impact, participant stories, and messages highlighting the importance of investing in Afro-descendant and racialized youth. Through posts, stories, and audiovisual materials, we sought to build a close and community-centered narrative that could connect with potential donors and allies.

In addition to our social media efforts, we also carried out a comprehensive update of our GlobalGiving page and project profile. This update included refreshed information about the program, adjustments to the project narrative, and the addition of a new institutional video that better reflects the experience, learning processes, and collective impact of YALP.

The new video represents an important step toward communicating more clearly and dynamically who we are, what we do, and why it is essential to continue strengthening leadership opportunities for Afro-descendant youth across the region. This tool will also support future outreach and fundraising efforts.

At the same time, during this reporting period we have continued advancing the organization and planning process for YALP Generation 6. We are currently finalizing the public call for applications, which will be launched at the end of this month. This process has involved methodological planning, logistical coordination, participant criteria revisions, and preparation of the outreach strategy.

The upcoming cohort represents a new opportunity to continue building safe, critical, and transformative spaces for Afro-descendant and racialized youth interested in strengthening their leadership, advocacy, and community-building skills.

We have also been working on consolidating partnerships and support networks that will help expand the territorial reach of the call for applications and ensure diverse participation from young people coming from different communities and contexts.

Despite the challenges involved in sustaining community-based and educational processes within a context of limited resources, this quarter allowed us to strengthen our organizational capacity and improve our communication and fundraising tools.

We are especially excited about the upcoming launch of YALP Generation 6 and the opportunity to continue supporting new generations of youth committed to racial justice, human rights, and social transformation across Latin America.

We deeply appreciate GlobalGiving, as well as all donors and allies who continue believing in this project and making the growth of this community possible.
