We are looking to raise funds to set up a computer room with wifi network for Beraber, at "Still I Rise" School in Gaziantep, Turkey. Still I Rise is an NGO created to provide education and protection for refugee, orphans, stateless and vulnerable children. They are currently operating in two youth centers, Mazi, in the Samos hotspot in Greece, and Beraber, in Gaziantep (Turkey), and are working to open a new international school in Kenya and a new center in Syria. YouMeWe visited Samos in 2018.
The children leaving their homes in Syria and other neighboring countries are seeking refuge in Turkey, in the day to day lives of the children, it is necessary for them to have the structure of getting up every day and attending class to learn and be part of a bigger group.
Beraber, the Still I Rise school in Turkey, will initially start as a youth center and eventually offer students a seven-year curriculum of high-quality education and an internationally recognized diploma. The presence of a reliable wifi network will allow the children to have access in their new school to the NightZooKeeper account set up for them to be able to practice creative writing and connect with children online throughout the globe including the children we work with in Japan.
Children born in the 21st century will live until the 22nd century, all the more reason for them to be online learning the skill sets including coding and language in order to keep up with their peers. Communication, collaboration and looking at the world more holistically is the formula for their futures when most technologies as well as the jobs they will eventually apply for have not been invented yet.
