We are happy to report that everything continues on the upswing here at YGRR. It is the end of another extremely productive year for our organization. As previously reported, we have upgraded our systems, improved and expanded our staffing on both the employment side and with our new volunteer program. We have also made changes to our facility in order to provide a quarantine area for imported dogs that have this requirement.
We have adopted out 53 dogs to date this calendar year that came to us from within the New England region. After expanding our reach beyond New England, we have adopted out 21 dogs so far this year from other regions of the U.S. Our biggest accomplishment this year is adopting out 63 dogs that we rescued from Turkey.
As you know, we provide all medical and behavioral care to all our dogs prior to having them adopted out to their new Forever Homes. Because of the efforts of many people on both sides of the ocean our Turkish rescue, which impacts dogs of all ages and stages of life, has been a huge success for everyone, especially the beautiful Goldens. The cost of this program including transportation is extremely costly. Those of you that have supported this effort are always in our thoughts. We hope to be able to continue bringing these homeless Goldens to the U.S. to get the love and attention they deserve.
In order to rescue, tend to all medical and emotional needs and to search for the best Forever Homes takes a huge effort on the parts on many devoted people. We are very pleased about the 137 dogs that we have successfully transitioned to new Forever Homes this year but there is so much more to do and so many dogs that continue to be in need.
We wish you and your families a Happy and Healthy Holiday season,
Yankee Golden Retriever Rescue
