Since 1968, YES has been living its mission of inspiring and challenging inner-city Boston youth. More than 1,600 Boston children ages 7-18 annually participate in YES's continuum of empowerment, outdoor, and leadership programs which help youth lay the foundation to achieve greater success in school, work, and life. The YES Academy delivers high-impact leadership programs to Boston middle and high school students 194 teens participated in 2015. Help us reach our goal of 200+ in 2016!
There is a tremendous unmet need in Boston for out-of-school time programs. Urban youth - and teens, in particular - have the least access to quality programs outside of school. YES is one of the few organizations in the city that offers year-round programming with services available after school, during the evenings, and on the weekends.
The YES Academy provides opportunities for urban middle and high school students to engage in learning outside the classroom and include career-centered activities, college readiness, and service learning. Youth benefit from leadership activities, physical fitness, and character development. 170+ youth participated in YES Academy programs in 2015. Participation in the Academy has grown an incredible 66% over the last 3 years.
YES Academy targets Boston's underserved youth and provide year-round opportunities for them to learn the critical skills needed to be successful in school, work, and life. YES helps middle and high school students be better prepared to be young leaders in their community, develop self-confidence, gain 21st century job readiness skills, and prepare for college.
