U&I is gearing up for its fourth year of participating in the World 10K Run in Bangalore, India. Our employees, our friends, and well-wishers are sweating it out for a cause. Those of us who hate to exercise are donning our shoes and working on training plans to get off the couch. Those of us who love to run are working toward building up speed and endurance. We have 100 people signed up for the 10K, and many more who will walk the 5K next month.
The goal is simple: we are all running to give a child the gift of a quality education. We are running for children like Danush who hadn't had anyone teach him to read time. He was reluctant to look at a clock or a watch, embarrassed, possibly fearful of failing. That's when his U&I tutor came alongside him. "What will you do when you grow up and walk down the road and someone asks you for the time?" she asked Danush.
That got his attention. His eyes sparkling, Dhanush listened to the rest of the lesson with rapt attention. After class, he borrowed his tutor's watch and ran around the classroom, proudly telling everyone what time it was.
Simple, yet meaningful, moments like these fill our every day U&I classes. We teach. We encourage. And, once a year, we put on our running shoes.
Support us this month as we run the World 10K. We want get children like Danush excited about learning. We want to give them the confidence that they can excel. We want to show them that anything is possible.
