July Bonus Day was a Success!
A HUGE thank you to those who participated in July Bonus Day. Your generosity raised USD$5090, which attracted a GlobalGiving bonus that takes the total to USD$6838. Thank you so much.
Families and Children in Need in Finland
In September, WWO Europe Programmes Manager, Suvi, was part of a team to convene and host a first roundtable in her own country of Finland.
Eighteen people with varied expertise and experience in the Finnish care system shared hopes and vision for the role of the church in helping children in the care system. Contributors included our Leading Coodinator, Richard Procter, Bulgaria Without Orphans Co-Chair, Ivan Minchev, and CEO of UK NGO Home for Good, Tarn Bright.
Since this roundtable, participants have begun a monthly prayer gathering, with the dream of building a national network. We are grateful for this development and look forward to what will come of this initiative in the coming days.
Working Together to Keep Our Children Safe
In June 2023, 40 participants gathered online to take part in a half-day workshop focused on learning how to keep children and vulnerable adults safe in our work and ministries. The event was translated into Romanian and Bulgarian.
Three different speakers shared their expertise and personal experiences on safeguarding practices and caring for vulnerable children. We heard case studies, discussed why safeguarding policies are important, how to implement them, and received practical advice on protecting vulnerable children effectively.
Our next online workshop is scheduled for October 5, 2023. We will be focusing on caring for children with disabilities. We will hear from individuals on various topics, from both professional and personal perspectives.
