The people at Mushuk Yuyay involved in the preparing for th IX World Quinua Congress have have been traveling, meeting, designing, and planning frantically. Even the tires on the Mushuk Yuyay vehicle have been worn bald. Demonstration plots for the quinua have been prepared, seed acquired, fertilzers mixed, and areas measured. Arrangements with the Bilingual School of Quilloac for space and facilities have been finalized. An agreement with the University of Azuay outlining their participation and collaboration has been signed. Converstions are ongoing with anyone interested in attending or contributing. The Scientific Committee is reviewing papers as they are submitted and discussing content. The webpage has been updated. May 4 and 5 were busy days with continuous meetings in Quito: INIAP (the National Institute for Agricultural Research), FAO (United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization), Fondo Agil (Spanish Agency for International Cooperation), United Bretheren, Heifer Project, IICA (Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture). INIAP announced officially that the IX World Quinua Congress will be held in Cañar, making the event santioned by the Ecuadorian government. All is going breathlessly well as everyone dedicated to the success of this venture work to finalize every possible detail.
