Project Report | Sep 24, 2024
Unified Sport - Special Olympics

By Silvia Bisconti | Project leader

Unified sport consists of PcDI and PsDI sharing the same space, and that is why we call it unified.
This practice is our clearest example of how to promote true Inclusion, breaking down myths, sharing diverse experiences and, above all, making PcDI and their maximum potential visible.

Unified Sports brings together people with and without intellectual disabilities on a single team, breaking stereotypes in a truly fun way. Special Olympics is dedicated to promoting social inclusion through shared experiences of sports training and competition.

In Unified Sports, teams are made up of people of similar age and ability. This makes training more fun and matches more challenging and exciting for everyone. Having a common sport is one more way to break down preconceived notions and misconceptions.
