Work to Heal is a 6-month project supporting the psychological recovery of 50 crisis-affected women in Gaza who have previously received mental health support from AISHA. Building on evidence that economic insecurity undermines mental health recovery, the project provides three months of dignified, skill-matched C4W opportunities, aligned with the Palestinian minimum wage, as a therapeutic extension of MHPSS services. it strengthens emotional stability, self-esteem, autonomy, and resilience.
Women in Gaza face ongoing conflict, displacement, and economic insecurity, resulting in trauma, anxiety, depression, and emotional distress. Psychological recovery is often incomplete because poverty, loss of livelihoods, and dependency worsen mental health and reduce self-esteem, leaving women and their families vulnerable to long-term psychosocial consequences.
The project provides dignified Cash-for-Work opportunities for 50 women alongside ongoing psychosocial and clinical support. By engaging women in skill-matched, structured work, it reduces financial stress, restores a sense of purpose, strengthens self-esteem, and reinforces the benefits of prior psychological interventions, promoting holistic recovery from trauma.
Women gain economic independence, resilience, and emotional stability, improving their ability to cope with future crises. This strengthens psychosocial well-being, boosts self-confidence, and empowers them to support their families, creating positive ripple effects in the community while reinforcing sustainable recovery from conflict-related trauma.
