Women's Health Book in Cebuano for Rural Villages

Dear supporters,

Thank you so much for your generous support of the Silliman University Marina Mission Clinic's efforts to print and distribute copies of Where Women Have No Doctor in Cebuano. The Clinic's staff send their thanks, and are grateful for your support of their work! 

Preliminary copies of the information are being used to train health workers at SUMMC, and the staff looks forward to having printed copies of the entire book. 

We will be wrapping up this campaign on August 22nd, and will send a full report on the impact and distribution of the books at that time. In the mean time, we wanted to let you know that now is the time to share the campaign, if you know anyone who might be interested--all gifts from now until the 22nd will be matched dollar-for-dollar, and every dollar given will go toward printing costs.

Reaching this goal will help support a small print run that will go into immediate use by SUMMC's family health volunteers, many of whom are the main health providers in small towns in the rural Philippines. Thank you for your support!

The view from the ground is often the best way to understand why health information is vitally important to a community. Dr. Fe Sycip, the Director of the Silliman University Marina Mission Clinic, describes the situation in the remote areas of the Philippines this way:

“Basic needs are not met in rural communities, and so poverty-linked common diseases keep recurring. Furthermore, we are a country where our women are still looked down as second class citizens. One of the objectives of the Marina Mission Clinic mission is to empower of women through education and organization.”

Giving PERDHAKI's community health volunteers copies of Where Women Have No Doctor will better equip them to achieve this mission. On average, a book in the hands of a health worker will reach an average of 40 women, who will, in turn, share their knowledge with 40 more women.

Any money raised by this campaign will make these books a reality. We hope you will share this campaign, and help SUMMC meet their goal!
