A life-changing training program for women in developing countries - Women's Mentorship Program (WMP). A unique opportunity for women to learn management skills and financial best practice from other women managers, and expand their professional skill set in areas of employment normally dominated by men. The experience promotes gender equality. It transforms careers, credit unions and communities by teaching skills that enable women to be successful managers of co-op financial institutions.
Traditionally, WMP participants have been required to travel to Canada to work with Canadian women credit union managers. The opportunity to participate has constraints - space, travel, time away, cost, visas and language. It's time to eliminate these barriers and expand the reach of this program from 11 women per year, to potentially hundreds in developing countries in Asia and Africa. Let's empower more women by offering mentorship opportunities in Canada and in their home countries!
Working with partners in countries like Malawi, Ghana, Kenya and Mongolia, a mentee will become a mentor to women in her home country. By breaking the barrier of distance that limits the number of women the program can reach, we make the program accessible to all. Eliminating travel across continents and oceans means more than reducing costs. It eliminates the need to meet visa requirements. It eliminates language barriers. It reduces time away from families.
*Well managed co-op financial institutions are successful in delivering products & services needed in developing regions and adapting to changes. *Empowered women are confident, happy and fulfilled - they live and work as equals and become role models to other women and their families. *Create a self-sustaining professional ecosystem by ensuring the skills and experience exist to grow and support professional networks of women managers of co-operative financial institutions around the world.
