This project will promote employment of 40 vulnerable women from rural areas of Tajikistan. To achieve this goal, the project will cover the cost of the driving licence courses for 40 women and facilitates their employment with local taxi companies. The project will also strive to find grant resources and concessional loans to support the women trainees with the purchase of green vehicles.
Most of the rural women in remote areas of Tajikistan are unskilled and mainly depend on their husbands. On the other hands, most of the Tajik men from rural areas are labor migrants working in Russia. Greater share of these men are coming back to Tajikistan due to the economic downturn and mobilization in Russia. As a result, many families are facing difficulties due to unemployment. This situation is leading to family conflicts and even divorces due to the economic hardships.
The project will arrange and cover the cost of a 3-month driving licence training course for 40 vulnerable women from rural areas of Tajikistan. While the women attend the driving license course, the project will run negotiations with local taxi companies to employ the project beneficiaries and make efforts to find grants and concessional loans to support the women with purchase of electric vehicles. The grant resources will be paid back to our organization and will be used as rolling funds.
The long-term impact of this project would be the education and employment of 40 vulnerable women from rural areas of Tajikistan. The women's employment will ensure their economic empowerment and minimizes their dependence on their husbands and other family members. This employment will also bring peace and understanding to the families of women beneficiaries and improve their living standards. Use of green cars will contribute to conservation of environment, reduce CO2 emissions.
