Achievements: First semester 2023

By Yurani Sandoval | Executive Director

We want to highlight in the first semester of 2023 the following accomplishments:

  1. Our Mompreneurs program launch
  2. The new curriculum
  3. One of our beneficiaries won a grant!

First, we have been organizing and preparing for Mompreneurs 2023. It is a hybrid, 3-month program that will start in the second semester of this year, a business incubator to teach Latina mothers not only to implement business and management tools for the development, consolidation, sustainability and/or growth of their business, but also to balance their life, their family and your business in a healthy way.

They will receive yoga and dance classes, office hours, workshops, challenges and more. This time, thanks to our sponsors, we will be providing fellowships for some of the participants.

Also for the Mompreneurs program, we have created a new curriculum of business and wellness. The committee of experts involved in the development of the curriculum, all of them volunteers, provided their experience and knowledge necessary to boost the personal and professional growth of each participant. For us, it is really a big accomplishment to keep improving the quality of our services, only possible due to people like our volunteers who offer their time to serve the community.

And last but not least: Layla, the owner of Nader Foods, has been an active student of ours, participating in our Gourmetpreneurs program, receiving mentorship and guidance from our business experts. At Women Palante, we also look for opportunities our beneficiaries can take advantage of, so we shared with Layla the grant that the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development was offering at the time called Project Restore. We encouraged and helped her in the applying process, and this year we got the news she had won $30,000!

You can support Layla and her entrepreneurship here.
