Providing farming support
Dear Friend,
Thank you very much for your support to our initiative supporting women farmers develop their farms into agro-forest farms. We are happy to report that this project is able to provide support to 75 women farmers this reporting period with the help also of local supporters and friends. We have provided seedlings of food crops like bananas and cassava in order to improve food production. Our purpose is for farmers to integrate food and tree crops in their farms so that they have multiple sources by which they can generate benefits. We will continue this type of approach as we go on implementing this project. Hoping for your continuing support. Thank you very much.
Very sincerely yours,
Michelle Frances Uy

Fruit and food growing
Dear Friend,
Thank you very much for your donation to our project women-led agro-reforestation project. We are happy to inform you that our project remain strong and viable thanks so much for all the support here and abroad. Agro-reforestation is our choice because of the problem of poverty and marginalization in the upland areas and the need to grow more trees together with the growing of fruit and timber trees. This is important because tree growing alone is not well-accepted by farmers because of the long-term effect of getting benefits from planted trees. However they like the idea when tree growing is done in conjunction with the growing of food crops in their farm-lots. This reporting period 15 women-farmers were able to grow bananas, vegetables and root crops together with fruit trees in their farms. Hoping for your continuing support to this project.
Very sincerely yours,
Michelle Frances Uy

Continue raising seedlings

Seedlings
Dear Friend,
Thank you very much for your support to our project helping women who are taking the leadership in implementing agro-reforestation in their villages. The role of women in agro-reforestation cannot be overemphasized and there is a need to encourage and support this. In anticipation for the coming rain we assisted 2 women's associations in raising fruit and timber tree seedlings for their need. The raising of high-quality seedlings is important because this is always the problem in implementing agro-reforestation - that of the lack of high quality seedlings that farmers can grow in their own farms. Seedlings in commercial nurseries are expensive and not easily accessible by poor farmers. We hope to enable 300 women-farmers to grow trees when the rain starts. Again thank you very much for your support.
Very sincerely yours,
Michelle Frances Uy
