We remain passionate to seeing the lives of women in african communities empowered,in a bid to raise their value in every community. Female gender abuse has been a norm for a long time in many african setting. The worst of it is, that some cultures promote it and the women there have been raised up with a mentality that, it is normal for them to be abused!
When a challenge is that far fetched, curbing it gets even more challenging as what was modelled to the girls in their early years sticks with them and their minds registers that as a normal occurence. Weve had instances where some local women accused our facilitators of selling to them 'foreign doctrines' during an AWARENESS FORUM we conducted on The Negative effects of Female Genital Mutilation{FGM}. We were lucky our facilitators had done a thorough research about the issue in that particular community and gave instances of teenagers who lost their lives due to overbleeding when going through what they termed as an important rite of passage. By the end of the 3 days successful forum with the women, the area chief requested us to hold more of such forums. "I want to say we are very grateful and lucky to have received these teachings....I assumed them at first but the two days I attended I must say I am a lucky man having been taught without paying any school fees..." He said amidst laughter amongst the attendants."I want to request the facilitators to plan another one soon where even the men will be invited, so that they can be enlightened too. I will assist in planning and ensuring our community evolves from traditions that are detrimental to our well being" Said the Chief in his vote of thanks speech.
We are grateful to all our donours because such programmes cannot be successful without your support. Despite the few challenges we face, finances remain the main challenge beacause lately, the economy has reeally gone up particularly in this electioneering period here in Kenya. Although some of the business we started for some of the women were hit by the hard economy, we are encouraged when we see others doing so well despite the economic hardship. We have projects budgeted at $9900 which we are intending to conduct by the end of 2022 that are aimed at empowering women for sustainable evelopment. As an organisation we remain optimistic that women being trivialized and left out due to their gender will be a thing of the past in African communities because we are willing to and we have your back up.
