Challenge

Los Altos is one of Mexico's poorest regions, with 90% of the indigenous population living in poverty and extreme poverty. There are many problems that this disadvantaged people experience. It can be mentioned, among others: a significant lack of access to comprehensive and dignified health and education and to resources for a clean environment. A history characterized by discrimination and great violence toward these groups. From this, the high degree of existing inequality can be deduced.

Solution

Aware of the many needs and pains in the territory, we formed our first giving circle eighteen years ago. We looked for resources to channel them to local organizations. Thanks to all the people who have believed in us: the community, our volunteers, and our donors, we have grown. Now, as a Community Foundation seeks more than ever to break paradigms, transform consciences, strengthen our community, and make it fairer and equitable. This transformation can continue with you and our community.

Long-Term Impact

We invite you to be part of Amigos de San Cristobal and build together a better future for the Highlands of Chiapas. Our long-term goal is to promote equity and social justice in our territory with your participation and the actions we can do together. Finally, achieve full development for everyone in our community, especially for the most disadvantaged people in our region.
