Clean Shelter is seeking US$366,000 to protect displaced and vulnerable families in Gaza before and during the winter season. The project combines an urgent winter emergency response with the repair of 100 damaged homes, helping families move into safer, warmer, and more livable conditions while supporting those who remain in vulnerable displacement camps. The winter emergency component requires US$110,000. The home-repair component requires US$256,000.
Thousands of displaced families in Gaza are living in damaged homes and unsafe tents with little protection from winter rain, flooding, wind, and cold. Many camps also lack proper drainage and safe access roads, increasing the risk of illness and further damage. Clean Shelter received more than 4,000 requests for home repairs but has so far been able to assist only 370 families because of limited funds. Without urgent support, many families will face winter in unsafe shelters and flooded camps.
Clean Shelter will combine home repairs with emergency winter support. We will repair 100 damaged homes to make them safer, warmer, and more livable, while replacing severely damaged tents and providing waterproof tarpaulins, raised flooring, mattresses, and blankets to families living in displacement camps. We will also clear drainage channels, remove floodwater and debris, place sandbags around vulnerable shelters, and improve muddy access roads so emergency teams can reach families quickly.
Repairing 100 homes will help families move from unsafe shelters into safer, more stable living conditions and reduce their exposure to future rain, flooding, and cold weather. Improving drainage, roads, and emergency-response systems will also strengthen the ability of displacement camps to cope with future storms and protect families from repeated damage. By combining immediate winter assistance with home repairs and improved camp infrastructure, the project will contribute to greater safety,
