During the winter season, Aseel, together with organizations registered on AidOS, provided winter assistance to more than 500 vulnerable families in different parts of Afghanistan.
The assistance was provided to families who were struggling to cover their basic needs during the cold months. Many of the families reached through this effort had little or no stable income and faced difficult choices between buying food, paying for heating, and purchasing warm clothing for their children.
The support reached a range of vulnerable groups, including children working on the streets, orphans, widowed women, women who are the main providers for their families, families supported by elderly breadwinners, and other low-income households.
Each distribution was adapted to the needs of the families. Food packages included essential items such as flour, rice, cooking oil, beans, chickpeas, salt, tomato paste, aash, macaroni, sugar, qaymaq, cheese, and milk. In addition to food, families received winter supplies including heating stoves, firewood, winter clothing, and winter shoes.
For families already living with limited resources, the winter season can be particularly difficult. The cost of heating and food increases while many households have no reliable source of income. For widowed women, orphaned children, street-working children, and families dependent on elderly members, these challenges can be even greater.
By providing food along with heating materials and warm clothing, the winter assistance helped families address some of their most immediate needs. A warm pair of shoes or winter clothes can make a significant difference for a child who still has to spend time outside, while food and heating support can help a family get through the coldest months with less pressure.
This effort was made possible through the cooperation of Aseel and its partner organizations, as well as the teams and individuals involved in organizing and delivering the assistance. Together, they helped reach vulnerable families in different communities and provide practical support during a difficult time of year.
For the families who received the assistance, the support was not only about receiving a package. It meant having food for the household, warmth during the cold days, and a little more security during a season when even basic needs can become difficult to afford.
Aseel is grateful to all the partners, field teams, donors, and individuals whose efforts helped make these distributions possible and supported vulnerable families across Afghanistan.
