Wild at HeART: Inspiring Kids to Save Wildlife

Summary

To commemorate the 15th anniversary of our first Educational Comic, we are launching the Wild at HeART program. Living near critical wildlife zones in Southern Africa, most 6th graders have never held a paintbrush. This workshop provides their first art experience, sparking creativity as kids paint local wildlife onto t-shirts preprinted with "I am an artist." We blend creative joy with instruction, helping youth discover their voice and build a lasting bond with the nature sharing their home.

Challenge

In rural communities bordering wildlife buffer zones, severe scarcity means art supplies are non-existent. Growing up here, children primarily see native animals as threats to family crops, livestock, and safety, creating an early, negative stigma. Yet, these young minds possess an open, unvarnished curiosity. By engaging them now, we can spark their natural creativity, reverse this stigma, and inspire a new generation to see local wildlife as a proud heritage to protect

Solution

We host interactive art workshops that spark a deep appreciation for wildlife. By sharing how people travel from across the globe just to see the animals in their backyard, we inspire kids to value this unique heritage as much as tourists do. With 1-on-1 guidance from artists, each student paints their own t-shirt preprinted with "I am an artist." Your donation funds these supplies, allowing children to discover their creative voice and wear their newfound pride home

Long-Term Impact

By engaging youth, we build lifelong conservation allies. Our advanced "Vanguard" masterclass brings in professional artists, opening viable future career paths for talented students. Critically, we ensure long-term sustainability by training local women and older girls to lead future workshops. By providing these mentorship and leadership opportunities, the program actively works to keep girls in school longer, transforming a one-day workshop into a generational shift for the community.
