Where Angels Play provides children with safe and fun places to play in communities in need. The playgrounds serve the additional benefit of being built to honor the lives of those that have left us much too soon. We endeavor to create joyful places to play... to provide hope, recovery, and a return to family values in the wake of tragedy and violence.
Where Angels Play strives to address two problems at once: When tragedy strikes, it is often the littlest victims that get forgotten. While the adults are focused on rebuilding homes, schools, businesses; the kids just need a place to be kids. In addition, when lives are taken in the most painful and abrupt of ways, the focus from the news media is often on how the person died rather than how they lived.
The Where Angels Play Foundation has made it its mission to give children in areas that have suffered tragedies an oasis - in the form of a playground. It can give them a sense of normalcy after the storm and be the symbol that their community will recover. The playgrounds are also designated to celebrate the life of a given "angel" - a child/hero who inspired the community and was taken too soon. It can give their family a place to remember and highlight what made their angel so special.
Where Angels Play has become a movement and a symbol that we can improve the lives of our nation's children and families when they need it most. We do that through enhancing their communities, cultivating a safe and healthy environment, embracing the memories of their loved ones, and letting them know that love and togetherness will triumph come what may. The playgrounds built serve as a beacon of hope, healing, and community for generations to come.
