Premature births are on the rise in Ukraine due to stress from war, leaving thousands of infants in critical need of urgent care. Neonatal ambulances, or "resuscitations on wheels," are life-saving vehicles that safely transport fragile newborns to specialized medical facilities. Each ambulance can make hundreds of life-saving trips annually. With a current need for 44 neonatal ambulances in Ukraine, your support can directly save lives and reduce infant mortality rates.
Due to active hostilities and missile threats, the number of prematurely born children in Ukraine is increasing because of constant stress. In critical cases, there is a need for the transportation of newborns. According to the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, 187,300 children were born in 2023. Nearly 18,730 of them were born prematurely. Every 10th child in Ukraine is born prematurely.
This project provides neonatal ambulances equipped with life-saving technology to safely transport premature and critically ill newborns to specialized care facilities. Each ambulance serves as "resuscitation on wheels," ensuring continuous medical support during transit. With rising premature births due to ongoing war stress, these ambulances are essential. Expanding access will reduce infant mortality and strengthen healthcare for vulnerable newborns in Ukraine.
The project will significantly reduce infant mortality rates by ensuring timely access to specialized care for premature and critically ill newborns. It will strengthen Ukraine's healthcare system, creating a sustainable network for neonatal emergency response. The initiative sets a foundation for long-term improvements in maternal and child health, raising awareness and support for modern medical solutions
