Wheels of Hope Uganda is a practical and life-changing project led by Worth a Haven, a charity supporting vulnerable children through education, care, and community development in Uganda. The aim of this project is to raise funds for a reliable vehicle that will dramatically improve daily operations at our school and orphanage and strengthen our ability to serve children safely, efficiently, and sustainably. At present, the lack of a dedicated vehicle creates constant challenges.
Worth a Haven operates a school and orphanage in Kasese, supporting vulnerable children who depend on the organisation for education, care, clean water, and safety. Yet one major barrier affects almost every part of this work: the lack of a reliable vehicle. In rural western Uganda, transport is not a convenience - it is essential infrastructure. Without a dedicated vehicle, staff must rely on public transport or hired options to collect clean water, transport food and building materials etc...
With a vehicle, essential services become safer, faster, and more efficient. Clean water can be transported in larger quantities, ensuring children have consistent access for drinking, cooking, and hygiene while reducing the physical burden on staff. Food, supplies, and materials can be collected in fewer journeys, saving time and money in the long term. Crucially, the vehicle enables safe transport for children - everything from attending medical appointments to responding to emergencies.
Owning a vehicle reduces reliance on costly external transport, allowing more funds to be directed towards education, healthcare, nutrition, and staff support. It strengthens Worth a Haven's ability to respond quickly, plan effectively, and operate with greater consistency and accountability. Over time, the vehicle will support not only the children in the school and orphanage but also the surrounding community - enabling outreach, assistance, and stronger partnerships.
