Summary

Aging adults with cognitive disabilities often face early decline in health, independence, and emotional well-being. Our Health & Wellness Education Program helps adults ages 50+ maintain life skills, improve hygiene, nutrition, safety, emotional coping, and social connection through adapted workshops, therapeutic activities, and cultural outings that promote dignity, independence, and healthy aging. The program also helps reduce isolation and strengthen daily routines and confidence.

Challenge

Adults with cognitive disabilities often experience age-related decline earlier than the general population, increasing risks to health, independence, emotional well-being, and social connection. Many struggle to understand aging-related changes, maintain hygiene, nutrition, safety, and daily routines, or cope with grief, stress, and isolation. Without adapted support, they risk losing life skills, confidence, dignity, independence, and meaningful participation in community life.

Solution

Chimes Israel's Health & Wellness Education Program helps aging adults with cognitive disabilities maintain independence, health, and dignity through adapted workshops, therapeutic activities, and community outings. Participants learn practical skills related to hygiene, nutrition, safety, emotional coping, exercise, and technology while building routines, reducing isolation, strengthening social connections, and preserving life skills needed for healthier, more independent aging.

Long-Term Impact

This project helps aging adults with cognitive disabilities maintain independence, health, and dignity for as long as possible. By preserving life skills, healthy routines, emotional resilience, and social connection, participants experience reduced isolation, improved well-being, and greater ability to remain active and engaged in their communities while delaying functional decline. The program also strengthens confidence, daily functioning, and long-term quality of life.
