Since my last report, we have been busy developing creative approaches to mental health and wellbeing at Bagshaw Musuem in Batley, West Yorkshire, England.
Bagshaw Museum is set within 36 acres of parkland and ancient woodland and it is accessible to all. There's no better place and space to support our wellbeing, locally.
We successfully launched our project on October, 18th this year, enjoyed by some forty delegates from local community groups; schools; Kirklees Council and voluntary organisations. It was an opportunity for all voices to be heard and friendships to be made and ideas shared.
We have begun our activities with a 'Place of Welcome' on Saturdays between 12 noon and 2pm. Please see attached photograph. We've shared a cuppa and biscuits and chatted about life's challenges along with new project themes for 2019. These themes include, participative 'Poetry in the Park' led by the BatleyPoets (batleypoets.co.uk) and a community marketing training initiative to promote our museum and park. Please see attached photograph. We are planning community transport to ensure that folk who will really benefit from visiting Bagshaw Museum and Wilton Park can do so. With best wishes for the holidays and 2019.
Your support has made this project happen. Thank you, Mark.
