THE WATER NEEDS HAVE BEEN FULFILLED THROUGH THE COLLABORATIVE EFFORTS OF VPIA, VIRTUES CONNECTION KAKAMEGA AND LOCAL NGO. Our school continue to need school supplies and uniforms. This school practices the Five Strategies of The Virtues Project and has become the highest scoring school in their district. They have eliminated corporal punishment and have created a peaceful school environment. Truancy has drastically reduced and parents are engaged in school and virtues activities.
There are 200 orphans who attend this school and many do not have any means. Schools do not have the money to provide materials, supplies, uniforms and tuition funds for children to go on to secondary school. Some of the teachers can't afford to pay their foster children's tuition. Teachers of TVP and their foster children will now have funds to ensure their children are financially able to attend school and this will naturally allow for the expansion of TVP to secondary schools.
Much needed school supplies and virtues materials will be provided to ensure the staff and students continue to excel. Ongoing training and support for teachers and students around the virtues will be provided. Scholarship monies will help children to continue their education beyond primary school by providing scholarship monies, uniforms, and books.
Covering the costs of these basic needs will help provide these children and their teachers with a healthy and more optimal learning environment - the supplies needed for students and teachers, and a realistic path to further education. Long-term, these will help ensure the continued declines in truancy, absenteeism, pregnancy; and continue the academic achievements they have been experiencing using the Five Strategies of The Virtues Project.
