By ALZHEIMER MEXICO | Alianzas Alzheimer Mexico I.A.P.
In recent months, Weaving Memories: A New Vision for Dementia has continued to strengthen and expand its reach. Alzheimer México, I.A.P. remains deeply committed to ensuring that every person living with dementia—and their caregivers—is seen, understood, and accompanied with empathy.
What We’ve Done
Community Education and Awareness:
We carried out new workshops focused on the early recognition of cognitive changes and on how lifestyle habits—such as physical activity, healthy eating, and social connection—can help protect brain health.
Access to Diagnosis and Interdisciplinary Care:
We continued to provide free cognitive assessments that allow for early detection and personalized follow-up from our interdisciplinary team.
Emotional Support and Well-being:
We expanded our support groups and creative memory activities, combining reminiscence therapy and artistic expression to strengthen connection and identity among participants.
A Story That Inspired Us
During our free, in-person event held to mark World Alzheimer’s Day, we witnessed an incredible turnout from the community. Among the attendees, at least 20 families received guidance on where to seek help for their loved ones living with dementia, and over 30 older adults were identified as being at risk. Each was informed and oriented toward the next steps for timely diagnosis and care.
Challenges and Lessons
Stigma remains one of the main barriers, but we’ve seen that when information is shared with warmth and respect, communities open up. Empathy continues to be our most powerful tool to transform realities.
What’s Next
Together, we keep weaving understanding, care, and hope—one story, one connection at a time.
