Taghyeer is a local independent nonprofit organization founded in 2010 in Amman, Jordan. The We Love Reading program is carried out under Taghyeer’s patronage and aims to nature change makers through fostering the love of reading for pleasure among children. Our initiative trains local men, women, and youth to hold regular read-aloud sessions for children in public spaces in their neighborhoods. We Love Reading has spread to more than 69 countries around the world, where thousands of We Love Reading libraries have been established.

Our goal is to create a healthy, vibrant society by empowering people to think critically and lead the change they seek in their communities. We strive to improve the cultural, social, psychological, and educational wellbeing of children, youth, and women across Jordan by developing entrepreneurial capabilities through hands-on training that is grounded on research and real-life experiences.

Thank you!

In the past 4 months, we have trained 139 new trainees on our online training platform, and new ambassadors have joined our ambassador network from Germany, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, and Tunis.

Also, We Love Reading has donated 25 books to establish a library at the Arab School in Amman. The library designed for individuals with disabilities, which was launched as part of the (Teach Me) initiative established by Lina Al-Ghareer, the ambassador of We Love Reading. The library is the first of its kind in the region. The We Love Reading Program contributed by donating WLR's books to encourage reading aloud sessions and to apply its slogan, "a library in every neighborhood."

Our ambassador Lina holds regular reading sessions for children with special needs and has started to utilize every skill she has to make a change in her community.

Furthermore, in these past months, our Ambassador Amal Al-Akhras broke the record for most reading sessions, Amal held over 365 reading sessions for children and read to over 3,178 children in her governorate, which is one of the highest numbers of reading sessions for children in the history of We Love Reading in such a short period of time.

Additionally, in order to implement the We Love Reading program in their neighborhood and schools for a young children, a group of female students from the English Talent School visited WLR to learn more about the concept and operations. Where they noticed the decline of reading in society and were keen to address this issue.

The We Love Reading team introduced the program's components to the trainees, emphasizing the idea of reading aloud for enjoyment and the program's methodology for integrating reading into children's lives and changing society and children's behavior through high quality, well-illustrated books, which the trainees received a package from the children’s books and the online training and became We Love Reading’s ambassadors. WLR supports the social work from a young age, aiming to raise awareness about the importance of entrepreneurship in the beginning stages of addressing community challenges.

A total of 198 books were distributed in the past 4 months, each woman received a book package to start her own library, the package contains 10 books that are fun, creative, and unleash the children’s imaginations. Books are developed according to set criteria and methodology, taking into account factors such as theme, relevancy to the children’s culture and background, language, and age-appropriateness. The books cover a variety of themes, including environmental awareness, empathy, gender, non-violence, disabilities, and refugees.

There’s still so much work to be done. We’re honored you chose ours to support. Thank you for making this work possible.

We can’t wait to share where your generosity takes us next!
