The lack of structured football sessions for the children and young people in Sierra Leone and majority of these children are homeless, poor and orphans. Football activities can be used to bring communities back together, contributing to the re-building of trust, decrease crime and violence free for reconciliation and re-integration within communities. Football activities for Ebola survivors or those affected by the impacts of Ebola.In addition the following will provide a better outcome in reaching their full potential.
Improved health: Improving health is an evident development priority that can be delivered through football. Participation in football and can help to reduce the risk of non-communicable diseases (NCDs)[1]. “Football for all” creates avenues for healthy living and active lifestyles[2]. This preventative health approach will help to promote the health status in the communities.
Improved education: Football can play a positive role in advancing education, having a positive impact on children’s education within schools and as a delivering non-formal education. Specific football programmes designed to increase school registration, improve school attendance, increase motivation and improve academic attainment.
Increased employment or job prospects: Working with development organisations experienced in delivering employment skills training, Football provides a platform to sign-post identified young players to skills training opportunities. Linking football activities to the skills training jobs and employments.
Social inclusion: Equal opportunities for all, regardless of age, gender, religion and tribe, and with special attention to the needs of the disabled and vulnerable.” Football can promote inclusion within areas and the wider society.
Decreased crime or violence within communities: Providing sporting opportunities as an alternative activity to anti-social behaviour. Football will target locations and groups or areas, where there is a recurring pattern of crime and violence to preach peace in the name of football."You, the donor, made this happen!" and thanks for being part of our possibilities.
