Dear Supporters,
Since our last update, your generosity has continued to move this project forward, especially on the water and irrigation work that is at the heart of this initiative.
Water access has arrived in Tanghin. A clean drinking water well is now in place, along with an irrigation system for off season vegetable growing. This means families in Tanghin now have safe drinking water and a path toward year round food production, not just harvests tied to the rains.
With water secured, work has moved to the next phase: land fencing is underway, followed by construction of water storage basins for irrigation. Once these are complete, planting will begin.
Progress continues across our other project sites as well:
•In Sinikiere, women are producing bokashi, an organic fertilizer made through fermentation, strengthening soil health ahead of the next planting cycle.
•In Ouda, an eggplant nursery is growing, combining a cherished local variety with improved seedlings.
•In Sinikiere, papaya trees planted earlier this year are growing strong.
•In Dapelgo, women continue to apply composting practices learned through our trainings, including on their own personal plots, a sign that these skills are taking root beyond group projects.
This builds on the diverse harvest we reported in November, when farmers brought in rice, cowpeas, cabbage, soybeans, African eggplant, and corn, alongside new crops like wheat, watermelon in Simbri, and tangelo trees in Ouda.
With your continued support, we are able to:
•Expand access to clean water and irrigation
•Train women in regenerative agriculture and composting
•Diversify crops for stronger nutrition and income
Thank you for standing with the women farmers of Burkina Faso.
