Akili Preparatory School for Girls provides free quality education for underprivileged girls from Obunga Slum, Kisumu, Kenya. Deeper Missions Org, USA is matching all funds raised upto $10,000 to enable us to drill a permanent well 110 meters deep to provide clean and safe drinking water for 30 underprivileged girls attending a boarding school in its Obambo Campus as well as over 300 households living in Obambo village, Kisumu, Kenya.
Riley Orton Foundation is building a boarding school in Obambo village, Kisumu, Kenya to provide a safe place for underprivileged girls in Kisumu county to access free quality education that will see them reach their potential and break the cycle of poverty in their communities.People here struggle to get clean water with the only sources of water being polluted seasonal streams and salty shallow wells. There is need to provide clean water for our girls and the entire community of Obambo village.
This project seeks to drill a permanent well and install a system to collect rain water from the roofs at the school during rainy season. Both water from the well and rainwater will be pumped and stored in 3 big water tanks that will see the girls have clean and safe water for use at the boarding school and avoid the risk of walking a long distance to fetch water. Members of the community will also be able to access the clean water from the school hence solve the perennial water problem.
This project will support 30 girls in 3rd and 4th grade in 2016 and 15 more girls every year as the school gradually expands to the next grade. it will also help more than 300 households in the community who do not access to clean and safe water. Overall, providing safe water for girls in a safe environment will empower them to reach their potential and lift themselves out of poverty and support their families. The women in the community will be relieved of the burden of fetching water far away.
