Exciting News! We received a $5,000 Grant from Water for Humanity and adding that to the money we had already raised on GlobalGiving, we were able to break ground on the well!
The village kids were ectremely excited to see the huge drilling rig barraling through the bananna fields and finally parking next to the giant termite mopund with the water underneath. Drilling took several days, and after a few setbacks (equiptment failure and whatnot) the well is dug and the cement is drying. We are having a meeting with the drillers tomoorw to finalize the process, and we need to let the well 'rest' for about a week before we can use it. So we have scheduled the water-well's opening party for July 14th, where we invite the entire village to come, eat, dance, and celebrate water with us!
More details on that later.
Yay Water!!!
