This project will provide a village in Sierra Leone with clean water and sanitation facilities, helping to alleviate poverty, gender inequality, and health and hygiene problems through these basic facilities. Improving access to clean water will reduce the endemic spread of malaria and diarrhoea causing malnutrition and high mortality rates. We will work with the community to develop fully functional market gardens, empowering the women by providing them with a source of income.
The villages that we chose to work in are very remote and none of the communities has clean water. They had to walk a distance to fetch from dangerous sources of water. Sanitation facilities are non existence and many children are chronically malnourished.
WellFound with the support from the communities, will install well, support with building safe sanitation facilities and also help set up market gardens.
