The proposed project, “Child Rights and Child Protection in 20 Primary Schools,” seeks to address critical barriers to education, health, and well-being for children in underserved communities. Many schools lack proper infrastructure, learning materials, and sanitation facilities, severely hindering students' access to quality education. Additionally, malnutrition, water scarcity due to climate change, and weak school governance further exacerbate the challenges. Despite delays in fundraising, SHIPO has initiated interim measures, including community awareness campaigns, partial distribution of learning materials, teacher training, and small-scale water projects. These efforts aim to sustain momentum while awaiting full funding. Once secured, the project will construct and rehabilitate school facilities, enhance teacher capacity, implement nutrition programs, and promote climate-resilient water solutions. By strengthening school management and community involvement, the initiative ensures long-term sustainability, aligning with SDG 4’s vision of inclusive, equitable education for all.
The long-term impact of this project will transform the educational landscape in the target schools. Improved infrastructure and teaching quality will boost academic performance, while health and nutrition interventions will reduce absenteeism and enhance child well-being. Community engagement and cost-sharing systems will foster local ownership, ensuring lasting benefits beyond the project’s lifespan. Furthermore, climate adaptation measures, such as water restoration and tree planting, will mitigate drought effects, securing a healthier environment for future generations. SHIPO’s proven collaboration with local authorities and school communities guarantees effective implementation, promoting transparency and accountability. However, the full realization of these outcomes depends on securing adequate funding. We call upon donors, partners, and stakeholders to support this vital initiative, empowering children with the education and protection they deserve ultimately breaking the cycle of poverty and building a more equitable, sustainable future.
