Safe Water, Healthy Communities: Bringing Hope to Underserved Villages in Uganda

Access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) remains a major challenge for many communities across Uganda. Approximately 14,000 of the country's 70,600 villages still lack access to safe water, leaving families vulnerable to preventable diseases and limiting their opportunities for a better life.
Inadequate WASH services contribute to the spread of cholera, dysentery, diarrhoea, typhoid, and skin and eye infections. Thousands of children are affected by waterborne diseases each year, with more than 4,500 reportedly dying annually from diarrhoeal illnesses associated with unsafe water and poor sanitation.
Women and girls are among the most affected. Many spend hours walking long distances to collect water, sacrificing valuable time that could otherwise be devoted to education, rest, childcare, and income-generating activities. Children also face difficulties attending school consistently and concentrating on their studies when their families lack reliable access to clean water.
