Project Report | Dec 24, 2025
Help Us Provide Communities with Clean water

By Joseph Jawanghe | Project Leader

Summary

Access to safe and clean water remains a critical challenge for many vulnerable communities we serve. This project aims to drill and equip community boreholes that will ultimately provide reliable, clean water to over 10,000 people, reducing waterborne diseases and improving health, livelihoods, and dignity. While progress has been made in planning and community engagement, the project has not yet raised sufficient funds to begin borehole drilling.

Activities and Progress to Date

Although funding remains below the level required for implementation, several important preparatory activities have been completed: Community sensitization meetings held to identify priority water access points Formation of community water committees to support long-term management Preliminary site identification and needs assessments conducted Engagement with local authorities and technical partners for borehole drilling approvals These steps ensure that once funding is secured, implementation can begin without delay.

Outcomes So Far

At this stage, no physical boreholes have been drilled. However, early outcomes include: Strong community ownership and commitment to maintaining water infrastructure Clear identification of high-need locations with severe water scarcity Increased awareness within communities about water hygiene and sanitation These foundational outcomes are critical to the long-term success and sustainability of the project.

Challenges Faced

The primary challenge is insufficient funding to cover the high costs of borehole drilling, water testing, pump installation, and community training. Rising drilling and material costs have also increased the minimum budget required to safely and sustainably deliver clean water to all targeted communities.

Lessons Learned

Early community engagement significantly improves readiness and sustainability Transparent communication with supporters builds trust, even when progress is slow Diversifying fundraising efforts is essential to meet large infrastructure costs

Next Steps

Once adequate funds are raised, the project will immediately proceed with: Final hydrogeological surveys Borehole drilling and installation of hand or solar-powered pumps Water quality testing and certification Training of local water committees on maintenance and management Each completed borehole will serve thousands of people with safe, year-round access to clean water.

Funding Gap and Call to Action

To date, the project has not yet reached the funding threshold required to begin drilling. Continued support is urgently needed to turn planning into action and bring clean water to communities that currently rely on unsafe sources.

Every contribution—no matter the size—brings us closer to providing safe water for over 10,000 people and transforming lives through improved health and opportunity.
