The Green Fund Initiative has installed a fully operational Water ATM in northern Bangladesh, delivering safe drinking water to marginalized communities. Many families, however, cannot afford the $2 ATM card and $3 water jar required to access it. A $5 donation provides both-ensuring families can collect, store, and rely on clean water every day.
In northern Bangladesh, many low-income, climate-affected families lack reliable access to safe drinking water. Although a Water ATM Booth provides purified water, the poorest households cannot afford the $2 ATM card and $3 storage jar required to use it. Without these basic items, families rely on unsafe water sources or make frequent trips to collect water, increasing health risks and daily burdens, especially for women, children, and the elderly in these communities.
This project will provide free Water ATM cards and water storage jars to the most vulnerable families. The cards allow households to access purified water from the existing Water ATM Booth, while the jars ensure safe storage and reduce the need for repeated trips. For just $5 per family, this project removes the final financial barrier to clean water access, improving health, hygiene, safety, dignity, and daily stability for households most in need.
By enabling families to access and safely store clean drinking water, this project will reduce waterborne disease, lower healthcare expenses, and improve overall quality of life. Women and children will spend less time collecting water and more time on education, caregiving, and income-generating activities. Over time, the project will strengthen community resilience and support sustainable, equitable water access in a climate-vulnerable region of Bangladesh.
