Your generosity gets us a step closer to our goal!

Happy New Year 2018! The past year 2017 was full of activities and we at Kenya Rainwater Association and the school communities that benefited from your generosity thank you for showing your commitment to our WASH Programmes. None of our work could be done without our amazing supporters, and we are especially grateful to you.

From my last update, construction works were on going at Ritaya Primary School in Nyandarua County, am now happy to report that the water tank is complete and has harvested rainwater that came down in November 2017.

The following were the main project components:

a) Construction of 75m3 masonry rainwater storage tank;

b) Installation of gutters and a simple foul-flush system;

c) Construction of gender-segregated sanitary facilities (VIP latrines) i.e. (i) 8 units with urinal for boys; and (ii) 2 units for teachers.

When the school reopened this year, the pupils were extremely excited when they were told that now clean and safe water was available in school, they could drink, wash their hands after visiting the toilets and they could also wash/ dust their classrooms with ease.

We are hopeful that in the new year, the pupils will continue to benefit from your generosity and goodwill, and the construction of permanent latrines will commence.

We thank you once again for your support. It means the world to us and the school community we serve!

With gratitude,
