Seventy families who fled the September 2026 fighting in Al-Mokha, Hays and Al-Wazi'iyah are now sheltering in fishermen's huts on the shore of Ras Omran, Aden. They have no income, no safe water and no food stocks. FMF will install five 5,000-liter water tanks, truck in safe drinking water, and give every family a food basket that covers a full month.
Renewed fighting in Yemen has forced more than 130,000 people from their homes since August, and Aden now hosts nearly 11,000 of them. In Ras Omran, 200 newly arrived families live in fishermen's huts and temporary wooden shelters, exposed to extreme heat and strong winds. They lost their livelihoods when they fled, and there is no safe water source or storage where they now live. Without urgent help, children, pregnant women and older people face rising risks of malnutrition and disease.
As a Yemeni organization working with communities since 2012, we will install five 5,000-liter water tanks with taps and fittings across the site, then refill them with safe drinking water by truck throughout the project. Each of the 70 families will receive a complete food basket covering one month. Families are verified through field registration with local authorities and community leaders, and representatives of host and displaced communities join every distribution to ensure transparency.
Safe water and food give these families the stability to protect their children's health while they rebuild. The water tanks stay in place as lasting infrastructure for the site.
