Waste Management
We continued to work together with the communities of Dawasamu/Bureiwai District towards long-term sustainable goals and achievements in waste management. Through baseline research, educational workshops, community empowerment, construction of recycling points, regular monitoring and data collection.
In September 2021 we did a recycling collection making the total amount of waste recycled since the beginning 18.5 tonnes. Members of the community have completed waste collection forms and the information is very positive with communities continuing to recycle.
It is vital that communities take ownership by working closely with key members of the communities and encouraging them to use the information collected to celebrate successes, make improvements and change behaviour to create a culture where the waste management is understood.
