Dear Friends
Pakistan experienced the hardest winter last year as it continued to an unusual span of time ( November-March). The northern and central part of Pakistan were the one most affected during the winters as many of the areas witnessed heavy snow, fog and extreme cold during this period. The heavy snow in the northern areas and the fog in the central part halted many of the economic and social activites in the areas. It also affected the small children the most as majority were unable to get the proper diet and clothing. The situation of children in the marginalized rural areas of Pakistan was alamrming as majority suffered from malnutrition during this time and gets extremely ill in winters due to extreme cold.
AWARD initiated a fundraising campaign to help the children by providing them warm clothes during the extreme winters. It also collaborated with some other organziations who were operating in the region .AWARD managed to raise few funds and also collected warm clothes to provide it to the children. The packs were sent to the partner organization working to provide the clothes to the needy families. The funds which were raised from GlobalGiving were also added to the fund which was raised from other sources.
