Introduction
On 12th July 2025, our team successfully carried out our Donate-A-Blanket-to-the Elderly charity initiative aimed at supporting needy elderly members of our community to protect them from the cold this July. With generous contributions from both GlobalGiving and well-wishers, we distributed 90 blankets to 90 elderly individuals across four rural locations in Kenya in the areas of Kabema, Kiboson, and Koimiret.
Financial Overview
We received a total donations from GlobalGiving of USD 371.97, which was fully used for the purchase of blankets.
Exchange rate used: 1 USD =130 KES (July 2025 rate).
Total in KES: 371.97 x 130 = KES 48,356.1
In addition, we received support from well-wishers to cover an extra 10 blankets, transport, and other additional expenses all at Ksh.61,644.
Breakdown:
Total budget cost: Ksh.110,000
All funds were accounted for and used effectively to ensure the success of the drive.
Blankets Allocation and Community Involvement
The initiative covered four locations in the below sub-locations:
In each location, we were warmly received by both the beneficiaries and the broader community. A total of 90 elderly individuals received blankets, with many expressing deep gratitude.
The reception was made even more impactful through collaboration with local sub-chiefs, assistant chiefs, village elders, community members, and youth volunteers.
These local stakeholders played a vital role in identifying the most vulnerable elders and organizing distribution points. Their involvement ensured the initiative ran smoothly and fairly.
Impact
This simple act of giving brought not just warmth, but dignity and emotional support to our elders. For many, this was a great and meaningful activity that targeted the elderly in their own community and their sentiments was for more of such initiatives to happen again.

We hope to scale up this initiative in the future to reach more locations and provide additional support such as water tanks to secure the dire need to access clean and safe drinking water.
