This program builds a movement of courageous young leaders who ignite transformative justice in their communities, for the planet. Diverse groups of young leaders age 19-26, different races, class and genders, participate in residential programs and online courses . The mission is to form and train wise, strategic leaders for our communities, by creating a safe space of learning, through courageous conversations that empower them to facilitate transformative justice locally and beyond.
New, young leaders with vision, integrity, skills and energy, are needed more than ever in South Africa in these times. Next generation leaders must be nurtured to become critical thinkers, advocates for justice, especially climate justice, peace makers in their families and communities - motivating and inspiring young people to bring about transformation in their communities and in South Africa and beyond. Now in Covid-19 times, the project has to accomplish its work using online means.
Many alumnae of this program have become local, national or international leaders. The quality of the VYLTP learning, training and formation successfully equips and transforms them to be leaders in their communities and in different sectors of society. As the project moves more online due to Covid-19 challenges and also to reach more young people, this will increase the reach of the project and produce more dynamic, strategic leaders who work for transformative justice.
The young leaders who go through this program, become leaders for transformative justice. They bring about positive changes and transformation in their communities and beyond, through organizing projects and inspiring others. By continuing the in-depth, high quality education and formation of young leaders through in-person residential training and online courses to enhance the learning, or for more in-depth work with alumnae, their eventual positive impact on society will be increased.
