Volmoed is a retreat and conference centre in Hermanus, South Africa. The focus of its mission for the past 36 years is reconciliation, focused on racial reconciliation, and reconciliation within families or groups. Groups or individuals come for training programs, conferences on reconciliation, group learnings, wellness retreats, peace & to relax. During Covid-19, there were no visitors, so no income. Volmoed is still recovering and needs to raise funds to keep the centre and programs going.
The trauma & difficulties related to Covid-19, experiences of anxiety, depression, fear, isolation, economic hardship; the realities of horrifying statistics of Gender Based Violence (GBV); the legacy of apartheid South Africa, mean that people need a peaceful, healing space to work through it all. Volmoed offers peaceful space, retreats and resources to help people with these needs but had no income during Covid-19. Volmoed now needs to raise funds to sustain the retreat centre financially.
Since Covid-19, Volmoed has begun to operate again, for people in need of space, peace, healing, reconciliation. The funds raised will enable Volmoed to pay the staff and operating costs to run the retreat centre and to host significant programs. This will be a huge gift to those who come to Volmoed in need of refreshment, renewal and restoration. It will improve people's mental, emotional, spiritual and physical health. The funds raised will help Volmoed operate the retreat centre.
Potential long-term impact on individuals and society is enormous. The effect of Covid-19 & lockdown in South Africa took a toll on people's mental, emotional, spiritual & physical health. By having income to operate & welcome people to this healing space, many will benefit and be able to function in a more healthy way, & once more contribute to society. It will have a ripple effect that makes the people of South Africa and other visitors more whole and healthy. What a wonderful gift to offer!
