Thank you for your support during the "Little by Little" campaign; it reinforced our conviction that working for and with young women is worthwhile.
During this reporting period, the Voices that Transform project has continued providing young people with a safe space where art and music become powerful tools for personal growth, healthy relationships, and community building.
Participants continue attending rehearsals and music training sessions with enthusiasm, strengthening their vocal skills, teamwork, discipline, and self-confidence. Every rehearsal is an opportunity to learn, share, and experience the transformative power of music.
The choir members are currently preparing for an important concert that will take place in September. During this event, all participants will come together on one stage to perform a repertoire of world music, singing pieces in two and even three vocal parts. This artistic process has been both a rewarding challenge and a valuable opportunity to develop their musical abilities, active listening, intonation, collaborative work, and artistic sensitivity.
The concert will also serve as a meaningful gathering for the community. People from different parts of the city will have the opportunity to enjoy a high-quality musical performance, strengthening the connection between art and the community while demonstrating how music can bring people together and create experiences that inspire, connect, and transform.
Some of the young people participating in Voices that Transform are also part of our our Youth singers transform lives by teaching others program, a program where they strengthen their leadership, teaching, and musical skills. Through this experience, they have begun to build their life projects, discovering music as a pathway to becoming teaching artists and agents of positive change within their communities.
Below, we share a few testimonials that reflect the impact this journey has had on their lives.
"The choir has been very enriching for me because it has taught me many things about music, such as singing in different languages, vocal warm-up exercises, musical pitches, and many other things I didn't know before."
LP – 13 years old
"In the choir I have learned about musical pitches, how to read sheet music, note values and rhythms, how to work as a team, and how to express myself more through my body."
JG – 14 years old
"I have learned many things in the choir, but what I enjoyed learning the most was intervals, such as major seconds, minor seconds, major thirds, and others. At first it was a little difficult for me to understand, but over time it became much easier. I still want to keep studying how many whole and half steps make up each interval."
