Manuel turns 8 years old today. It has been a couple years since we gave an update on him. You last heard about some corrective surgery that he had to address his feet that curved inward due to a birth defect. In addition to the corrective surgery, he has been in ongoing physical therapy for most of his life. Unfortunately the surgery that he had a couple years ago did not correct the problem entirely. His feet have turned inward some again. So he will need an additional corrective surgery. Manuel is being raised by his aunt and uncle. Unfortunately his father is incarcerated in a prison east of Tijuana. But even before that, his need for stability was needed as his own parents were just teenagers themselves. And when it was clear that Manuel would need more special care, his fathers older sister stepped in. We have been helping this family for many years, thanks to your support of our project. As things stand now, Manuel’s aunt has applied for help from Shriner’s Hospital - Mexico. And after a long wait he is finally scheduled for an appointment to evaluate him this week. We anticipate giving you a full report of successful progress in the near future. So many little ones like Manuel do not get such 2nd and 3rd chances. We are so grateful, with your help, to be a part of his successful chances.
