Vocational Training for Young People in Brazil

DLW is a Norwegian NGO, and our mission is to give brazilian young adults, from less developed areas, a fighting chance for a better future, through access to quality education and decent employment opportunities.
 

Introduction

Dear friend of Dream Learn Work, new features and social actions from our 3rd quarter of 2021. As we all know, still many challenges increased due to the global pandemic impacts on everyone's lives, but DLW remains solid on our mission with our participants and their families during tsuch adverse times. Thank you all for your continuous support and engagement with our organization. Here are some of our latest updates. 

JULY

DLW'ers talk about isolation

In July, we mobilized a project to consult and ask our participsants to record short videos of our participants, in their homes, to have their opinions and words on how this period of social isolation has been and the direct and indirect impacts on peripheral populations.We asked our youngteers: how has the pandemic affected their lives? "In my view, so, for my part, I felt very bad in the sense of social distancing, because I was always doing some activity and movement," said our DLW'ers Alecsander. 

AUGUST 

Dreams never get old!

Our DLW'ers continue to pursue their goals and dreams and give us countless joys! Our former participant, Pedro Henrique, recently told us about one of his recent internship experiences, in the gastronomy area. Pedro lives and works in Portugal, and had a great opportunity to expand his technical skills in Japanese cuisine. The youngster spent a period learning and improving skills in the area and also managed to develop other soft skills with professionals from different countries. Increasing his cultural gains and experiences.

Pedro will definitely return to his local restaurant with great stories and interpersonal relationships that will add more and more to his professional and life trajectory.

Participants in labour market

It is wonderful to follow the progress and achievements of all our youngsters. We were happy to add to this collective transformation. Keep walking in pursuit of your goals and dreams. We continue here on your side. Our DLW'er, Sarah Vieira, told us a little about this opportunity to be part of the Subsea 7 team and the importance of this access in the labor market. She is one of 6 people hired in this new cycle at the company. In the previous cycle, we had 3 participants and in this new selection process we have already managed to double that number.

SEPTEMBER

SDG Impact Award

DLW Project won the INNOVATION AWARD at Pioneers in SDGs Awards 2021! Dream Learn Work's “Vocational Training for Young People in Brazil” project won the Innovation Award in Pioneers in SDGs Awards 2021. This is a big boost of motivation and is a result of multiple effort throughout the years from our #DreamTeam members and partners for this collective achievement.

Acces to quality education

BELIEVE IN THE PROCESS! And it was in this optimistic energy that our youngsters completed the Excel course in one of our partner educational centers. This included 6 intensive classes dedicated to awakening and improving the subject, focusing on students' technical qualification.

Several participants are already putting into practice the acquired knowledge and this optimizes the chances in learning and in the job market. We cannot fail to thank our institutional partners and their entire workforce. We thank all of you you for offering the participants yet another quality course and a favorable infrastructure that would guarantee sanitary safety, ensuring a positive resumption in this gradual return to in-person classes.
