The proposed project to upgrade existing facilities of the Vocational Training center located in Matara district, Sri Lanka is an attempt to rehabilitate disabled by Saviya Development Foundation (SDF) It will create a comfortable, tidy and clean environment for disabled, marginalized youth who get the residential training annually (about 20 residential student per year) and socialize them by giving practical education to make their future career pathways.
10% of Sri Lankan population is disabled & majority of them do not receive formal education.It causes them to depend on others becoming a burden to the country. As a supportive measure for the purpose, SDF has established a vocational training center for the physically handicapped youth giving one year residential training for about 20 students annually.The sanitary & other facilities as raw materials & computers are lacking & in unfavorable situation of the center.They are dilapidated.
Upgrading existing sanitary facilities;through renovate two bathrooms and facilitate outdoor showers. It will solve their day today sanitary difficulties and to ensure their health and safety.Facilitating with necessary equipment for the training will lead their vocational skills. Staying as a team in facilitated hostels will create personal development of them.Also anticipates physical and mental health development programme will enhance their self-confidence
Provision of sanitary & education facilities will help the handicapped youth to complete their training within the period of one year more comfortably & successfully. The targeted disabled youth will enjoy a healthy, wealthy and prosperous life while contributing to the country's development.
