By Janet May | KEX Kids Fund Board Member
From January 1st to December 30th 2012, The KEX Kids Fund received $194,805 from businesses, foundations, individuals, and service organizations. These funds include $4175 from a 20/20 Celebration of Sight and Sound fundraising event held January 15th in Oregon City and $34,245.46 in corporate sponsorships for the May 20th golf tournament. These funds also include payments for pledges ($106,734) from our annual Thanksgiving Fundraiser where we obtain most of our funding for the following year. Funds are kept in one account and are used for both of our Hearing Care and Vision Care Programs.
Vision Care Program Services expenses for the first three quarters of 2012 were $61,971. The KEX Kids Fund served 879 children in 2012. This number is slightly less than in 2011 because several local organizations have added vision care for low income children as part of their community service activities. The KEX Kids Fund children received vision care services valued at nearly $240,000. We continue to be able to provide vision care services to all qualified children who request our help and have no other options for vision care. Our contact at the Oregon Lions Sight and Hearing Foundation, Kerith Vance, recently received three thank you notes from students at a Salem Oregon High School which we are attaching to this report.
