From January 1st to September 30th 2012, The KEX Kids Fund received $87,529.59 from businesses, foundations, individuals, and service organizations. These funds include $4175 from a 20/20 Celebration of Sight and Sound fundraising event held January 15th in Oregon City and $34,245.46 in corporate sponsorships for the May 20th golf tournament. Funds are kept in one account and are used for both of our Hearing Care and Vision Care Programs.
Vision Care Program Services expenses for the first three quarters of 2012 were $51,237.90. The KEX Kids Fund processed requests from 602 children and care for 304 children was completed from January – September 30th this year. These 304 children received visions care services valued at nearly $205,000. We continue to be able to provide vision care services to all qualified children who request our help.
The following message is from an email from a Silverton nurse – one of our vision network contacts: I received word yesterday that this student not only needs glasses, but they are special prism glasses that she gets through Dr Vashe in Silverton. There are other concerns for this family, so I will be following up closely to make sure this occurs, and I am hopefully going to use this as a tool to start some other conversations with the family re needs. Sometimes these vouchers are more than just a pair of glasses...this would be one of those cases. Thank you for your consideration. Suellen Nida, RN Nurse Consultant, Silverton Health
